The practice of meditation is extremely beneficial for the mind, body, and spirit. This ancient practice has proven to revitalize, restore calm, and balance the mind-body connection. Meditation powerfully changes brain chemistry, physiology, functionality, and brain activity. Meditation improves mood and psychological well-being. Soft belly breathing, a component of meditation, helps to activate the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is the 10th cranial nerve and longest of the cranial nerves and controls the parasympathetic nervous system. When activated it lowers blood pressure, slows the heart rate, relaxes the big muscles in our body, and improves our digestion.
